NTT Faculty - Assistant Lecturer (Music)
The School of Music at Southern Illinois University Carbondale seeks applicants for a part-time, non-tenure track, term appointment with emphasis in music theory and music understanding. The applicant will teach music theory courses to undergraduate and graduate students. Teach music understanding courses to undergraduate students including non-music majors.
Due to the newly established $100,000 fee for H-1B petitions requesting consular processing outside of the U.S., Southern Illinois University is unable to provide H-1B sponsorship at this time for any prospective applicant who is outside of the U.S. and requires consular processing.
Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience, while also considering internal equity.

Examples of Duties
Teach music theory courses to undergraduate and graduate students. Teach music understanding courses to undergraduate students including non-music majors. Support and positively contribute to SIU’s mission of student success and retention through actions and responsibilities within this role.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: Completed Masters in Music by date of hire. Experience teaching music theory and music understanding.
Preferred Qualifications: College and/or University teaching experience. Experience with low strings. Experience with conducting.
