Nurse Anesthetist Senior (Assistant Chief Anesthetist)
Reporting directly to the Chief Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA), assist in management of daily CRNA operational functions. Establish collaborative/consultative relationships with key health care professionals and administrative personnel. Contribute to the delivery of clear and timely communications, assist in resolution of daily issues, and leverage human resource management through tools such as lean healthcare practices and employee recognition and promotion. Provide collaborative and consultant support to other hospital disciplines including Surgical, Medical, Peri-operative and Post-operative services. Assist the Chief CRNA in implementation of quality patient standards and guidelines in compliance with organizational and departmental policies.
Provide administrative and functional supervision over CRNA staff. Professionally assist the Chief CRNA in the supervision and management of the CRNAs, assist with daily workforce supervision and direction, as delegated. Provide functional and administrative oversight to the CRNA charge in addition to supporting the CRNA charge function. Manage CRNA PTO processes in accordance with guidelines from the Health System, the Clinical Director UH/CVC/PAV ORs and the collective bargaining agreement.
Monitor and assess daily OR operational workflow. Administer anesthesia (to all patients regardless of age) and anesthesia related care to facilitate diagnostic, therapeutic or surgical procedures under the medical direction of an Anesthesiologist. Prepare preoperative assessments including health histories and physical examinations. Develop the Anesthesia Care Plan together with the Anesthesiologist. Initiate and maintain appropriate perioperative anesthesia care. Maintain appropriate patient records including quality assurance documentation. Complete pre and postoperative evaluations in accordance with department policies. Function in accordance with all institutional policies and guidelines. Maintain licensure, certification, and current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) status.
