Duties & Responsibilities
- Conducts medical examinations, diagnose, prescribe, and treats CHS patients while practicing within clinical skills and competencies.
- Makes patient referrals for further diagnosis and testing.
- Consults with other CHS healthcare providers as needed.
- Provides technical directions for CHS nurses and medical assistants.
- Prescribes and dispenses drugs and devices in accordance with established regulations.
- Provides technical direction to RN's, College of Nursing students, College of Medicine residents, intern physicians, and medical students.
- Cooperative interaction with other clinical staff and support staff.
- Provides teaching and mentoring opportunities for UA or affiliated health care trainees.
- Involvement in committees and teams as appropriate.
- Additional duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Good oral and written communication skills, including with all levels of the institution.
- Progressive leadership skills with the ability to develop, guide, motivate, and coach others.
- Advanced knowledge of skills in health promotion and maintenance, disease prevention, physical and psychosocial assessment and management of health and illness applicable to the care of college students.
Minimum Qualifications
- Master's degree from an approved school of nursing and completion of an approved adult of family practice Nurse Practitioner program.
- Minimum of five years of relevant work experience or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- Board eligibility or certification in practice specialty.
- Licensed to practice as a Nurse Practitioner in the State of Arizona or will be by date of hire.
- Must have a current DEA Controlled Substance Registration Certification.
- Arizona prescriptive privileges required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in college health.
- Experience in wound care, simple surgical procedures, for example suturing.
- Experience with an electronic medical record system.
