Job Summary
The Nursing Simulation Lab Specialist I supports the daily operations of the College of Nursing Simulation Center and provides troubleshooting and technical oversight. Ensures that daily setup and breakdown are done appropriately and efficiently. Collaborates with clinical faculty during simulations and makes appropriate adjustments based on needs of the scenario under general guidance. Assists with the coordination of orientation, training, and ongoing support of simulation faculty. Facilitates tours for recruiting faculty, prospective students, donors, high school students, and other visitors. Enforces policies and procedures for lab operations and simulation activities.
Additional Department Summary
Supervises student employees and support staff. Maintains operational readiness for routine coursework, high-stakes assessments, interprofessional activities, and large-scale simulation events. Serves as a key operational partner to simulation leadership and faculty, translating educational goals into executable simulation workflows across multiple modalities, including high-fidelity simulation, audiovisual systems, virtual reality, and emerging technologies.
Required Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and two (2) years of IT, hospital, patient care, and/or healthcare education experience; OR associate's degree and four (4) years of IT, hospital, patient care, and/or healthcare education experience; OR high school diploma or GED and six (6) years of IT, hospital, patient care, and/or healthcare education experience.
Skills and Knowledge
Competency with computers and AV equipment. Ability to learn simulation software quickly. Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with faculty and students.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a health‐related or technical field. Clinical experience as a nursing assistant, EMT, LPN, or similar healthcare role. Experience with simulation technologies. Familiarity with AV capture/playback systems. Certified Healthcare Simulation Operations Specialist (CHSOS) certification or willingness to obtain within three (3) years of employment.
Pay Grade/Pay Range
Minimum: $53,500 - Midpoint: $66,900 (Salaried E8)
