Āu Mahi | What You Will Do
Join the University of Canterbury in a key leadership role shaping the future of digital assessment. As the Online Assessment Implementation Lead, you will drive the design and delivery of online invigilated assessment across UC, working with academic, professional leaders and accreditation bodies, to ensure a high-quality, student-centred experience grounded in academic integrity.
In this strategic and operational leadership role, you will:
- Lead the design, implementation, and optimisation of UC’s online invigilated assessment framework, ensuring consistency, scalability, and academic integrity
- Act as the subject matter expert and trusted advisor on digital assessment, guiding Faculties on best practice, policy alignment, and risk-informed decision-making
- Gather and analyse complex business requirements, translating them into effective systems, processes, and frameworks that support diverse assessment needs
- Drive continuous improvement through data analysis, reporting, and the development of standard operating procedures and service level agreements
- Lead cross-functional collaboration with Faculties, Digital Services, and UC Online teams to deliver a cohesive and high-quality assessment experience
- Provide strategic input into the selection and optimisation of learning technologies and assessment platforms
- Oversee the operational delivery of online and distance assessments, ensuring smooth execution and effective issue resolution
- Develop and deliver clear communication, training, and change management initiatives to support staff through evolving assessment practices.

You will demonstrate:
- Extensive administrative experience in a large, complex organisation, ideally within a tertiary or academic environment.
- Proven experience operating in a role with similarities to a Business or Process Analyst, including requirements gathering, process mapping, and service optimisation.
- Knowledge of learning management systems and educational technologies (e.g., Moodle, Canvas), and how they support assessment delivery.
- Demonstrated ability to engage, influence, and communicate effectively with senior stakeholders, including confidence in presenting insights and recommendations.
- Advanced analytical capability, with experience synthesising information into frameworks, reports, and actionable strategies.
- Experience leading projects and driving process improvement, including change management and implementation of new systems or practices.
- Exceptional interpersonal and relationship management skills, with the ability to collaborate across diverse teams and build trust quickly.
- High attention to detail, strong organisational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
