The Department of Family Medicine in the Medical College of Georgia (MCG) at Augusta University (AU) is seeking a faculty member at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor to serve as a clinician-researcher. The successful candidate will help bridge the gap between clinical practice and population health scholarship, leveraging the expansion of Wellstar MCG Health to advance innovative research in health outcomes, healthcare delivery, and population health. The faculty member will contribute to the development of a robust research program aimed at improving patient care and addressing critical health challenges within the communities served. This position does not meet the requirements to be on a tenure track.
Responsibilities
Clinical- 40%
Patient Care (Seeing private patients and precepting residents)
Research- 60%
Research : Secure external funding from agencies such as the NIH, CDC, or HRSA
Study Oversight: Serve as Principal Investigator (PI) for clinical trials and observational studies
Translational Scholarship: Transform clinical care data into high-impact, peer-reviewed publications and national presentations to influence medical guidelines
Research Mentorship: Mentor junior faculty in grant writing, study design, and abstract preparation
Strategic Collaboration: Act as a research liaison between the DFCM and other MCG departments to foster interdisciplinary maternal-health study groups
Required Qualifications
MD, DO or equivalent. Eligible for licensure in Georgia and credentialing at MCG's partner Academic Medical Center. Teaching experience.
Assistant Professor- Early level career as a faculty member with appropriate post graduate training.
Associate Professor- Mid level career faculty member with at least five years at rank of Assistant Professor or comparable training, background, and experience.
Professor- Senior level career faculty member with at least five years at the rank of Associate Professor or comparable training, background, and experience.
