Position Description
The Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology at the University of Washington invites applications for a faculty position at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor, without tenure (WOT) by reason of funding, with clinical duties at Seattle Children's Hospital. We seek applicants who demonstrate commitment to excellence in research, teaching, and service in a diverse and inclusive academic community. The successful candidate will join our faculty on a full-time basis for a twelve-month academic appointment with an anticipated start date of October 1, 2026.

The Department of Laboratories at Seattle Children’s Hospital is seeking an Anatomic Pathologist to join our cohesive group of anatomic pathologists to care for children in the Pacific Northwest and beyond. The Department of Laboratories at Seattle Children’s Hospital has a decades long tradition of providing patient-focused services and engaging in collaborative research and training of house staff and medical students. You will join a full-service combined anatomic/clinical pathology team comprised of 9 anatomic pathology and 16 clinical pathology faculty working with over 200 technical staff to collectively perform over three million clinical tests annually, including in specialty areas such as molecular microbiology, next-gen sequencing, flow cytometry, and biochemical genetics. The anatomic pathology service accessions ~10,000 specimens annually including 7,000 surgical specimens, 2,000 cytology specimens, 700 bone marrow samples, 750 placental/perinatal specimens, and 120 autopsies including referred fetal/perinatal cases. Contribute to the hospital’s academic mission.
Qualifications
Applicants for this position must meet the following minimum qualifications:
The successful candidate must have an M.D. (or foreign equivalent) and be Board-certified or Board-eligible in Pediatric Pathology. Must qualify for a license to practice medicine in Washington State. In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H1-B visa, graduates of foreign (non-US) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the US Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE) or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
