Open Rank WOT (without tenure by reason of funding), Interventional Cardiologist, VAPSHCS
The Division of Cardiology, Department of Medicine at the University of Washington and the VA Puget Sound Health Care System (VAPSHCS) invites applications for a faculty position in Interventional Cardiology at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor without tenure due to funding (WOT), with an anticipated start date of October 1, 2026. Specific rank will be commensurate with experience and qualifications as generally described in UW’s Faculty Code Section 24-34. We seek applicants who demonstrate commitment to excellence in research, teaching, and service in a diverse and inclusive academic community. The successful candidate will join our faculty on a full-time basis for a twelve-month service period (July 1- June 30).
This position is paid directly by VA Puget Sound Health Care System (VAPSHCS) and receives no UW compensation. Please refer to VA Puget Sound Health Care System (VAPSHCS) for information about compensation for this position.
The position will have a focus on quality improvement and health outcomes and independent practice in diagnostic and complex interventional cardiology procedures, as well as structural heart procedures. The successful candidate will assume the duties of the clinical site director for interventional fellows rotating through the Puget Sound VA and will be expected to establish relationships with key stakeholders to continue to grow the interventional/structural program and expand services regionally. Clinical duties will also include inpatient and outpatient cardiology consultation, and cardiac study interpretation. Teaching duties will include didactic and hands-on teaching for residents, cardiology and interventional fellows as well as presentations at regional and national conferences and continuing medical education programs.
All University of Washington faculty are expected to engage in teaching, research, and service.
Qualifications
Applicants for this position must meet the following minimum qualifications:
Applicants must have an MD or DO degree (or foreign equivalent) and be board certified/eligible in interventional cardiology (or foreign equivalent) and must be eligible for medical licensure in the state of Washington. Candidates must have a demonstrated record of research and publication. Candidates must have a track record of excellence in medical education and a strong background in clinical research and a publication record in interventional cardiology. Applicants must be U.S. Citizens (permanent residents may be appointed only if it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens).
