This role sits within the Outreach Learning Design team and plays a critical role in shaping the educational quality of UAO’s programmes. The postholder will bring substantial classroom experience and deep pedagogical expertise to the design and development of learning content across a range of initiatives, including the Oxplore Home of Big Questions and related programmes.

About the Role
Working closely with non-specialist colleagues, the postholder will act as a pedagogical expert, advising on, shaping, and strengthening the educational approach of outreach activity. They will translate complex academic ideas into accessible, engaging content for young people, ensuring that all materials are thoughtfully structured, developmentally appropriate, and designed to support meaningful learning outcomes.
The role requires a strong understanding of how young people learn, alongside the ability to design content that balances academic challenge with creativity and engagement. This includes developing resources that capture students’ interest using tone, narrative, and where appropriate humour, while maintaining intellectual integrity.
In addition, the postholder will contribute to the continuous improvement of programmes by working with colleagues to review content, draw on evaluation and evidence, and refine approaches to maximise impact. They will collaborate across teams and with colleagues across the collegiate University to ensure that outreach work is aligned with strategic objectives and underpinned by research and robust pedagogy.
