P/T Preschool Teacher
Position Announcement
The Family Studies and Human Development at Utah Tech University in St. George, Utah invites applications for a part-time Preschool Teacher at our Tiny Trailblazers Preschool, starting Fall Semester for the 2026-2027 school year. This position consists of teaching 3 - 5 year old children and mentoring college students training to become preschool teachers. Utah Tech Tiny Trailblazers Preschool is a lab for our college students to observe, and assist as part of the Early Childhood Education program.
Responsibilities
- Preschool teacher will perform a variety of duties related to managing a preschool class of 14 - 20 children between 3 - 5 years of age.
- Work closely with the Preschool Lab Coordinator in planning preschool curriculum that reflect and model what UT students are learning in their classrooms.
- Provide and maintain a high quality and developmentally appropriate education program.
- Preschool teacher is responsible for presenting and implementing preschool curriculum that allows children to problem solve, explore and learn through play-oriented activities.
- Provide a positive and creative learning environment within the classroom.
- Model best practices with the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) learning standards.
- Mentor college students training to become preschool teachers.
- Communicate genuinely and effectively with children, parents, UT students, and co-workers.
- Regular attendance and dependability is an essential job function to perform the essential duties and responsibilities of this position.
- 25 hours per week with the following schedule: Mondays- 8:30-11:45, 12:15-3:15; Tuesdays- 8:30-12:00; Wednesdays 8:30-11:45, 12:15-3:15; Thursdays 8:30-12:00; Fridays 8:30-1:30
Qualifications
Minimum Education: Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education or equivalent. Minimum of 2 years experience assisting in early childhood setting, such as preschool, primary grades in public education, Head Start program, etc. Strong organizational, communications, and interpersonal skills, including the ability to work well with parents, children, college students and co-workers both orally and in writing. Strong commitment to work collaboratively.
