Ngā kōrero mō te tūranga – About the role

Inspired by the wisdom of Pacific wayfinders, the Palu Navigator supports Pacific learners to successfully navigate their university journey.

Based at our Tauranga Campus, you will work closely with students to provide personalised support, helping them connect with the right services, build confidence, and achieve their academic goals. You will also contribute to initiatives that strengthen engagement, participation, and success for Pacific learners across the campus.

This is a highly relational role where your presence, cultural knowledge, and ability to build trust will make a meaningful difference. You will work alongside a committed team to deliver programmes, workshops, and activities that reflect Pacific values and support learner success.

Salary will be in the range of $60,046 to $72,636 per year, pro-rated, based on skills, knowledge and experience brought to the position. This is a part-time role (0.6 FTE, 22.5 hours a week), based on our Tauranga Campus.

You are approachable, culturally responsive, and confident building relationships with students and the wider community. You enjoy working both independently and as part of a collaborative team.

You will bring:

• Experience working with Pacific learners, families, or communities
• Strong cultural competence and relationship-building skills
• Excellent communication and organisational abilities
• A relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent experience

Fluency in a Pacific language and experience in tertiary education or student support would be advantageous.
