The 189 room IU Biddle Hotel is the largest hotel in Bloomington, Indiana. Job Summary
Department Specific Responsibilities
- Welcomes Visitors, Guest, Alumni, and Students to the IMU and IU Biddle Hotel.
- Restocks supplies and conduct basic troubleshooting on parking gate equipment.
- Monitors IMU Circle and help maintain proper traffic flow.
- May assist with guest luggage handling and sense of arrival to the IU Biddle Hotel.
- Communicates and coordinates with other departments to help create a great guest experience.
- May drive university vehicle for business needs.
General Responsibilities
- Attends parking lots and facilities.
- Maintains professionalism in adverse or stressful situations; provides positive customer service by answering visitor questions regarding directions, parking policies, and event information.
- Assist with traffic control at booths.
- Issues tickets using a handheld computer.
- Informs supervisor of infractions to departmental policy.
- Counts and reconciles cash from drawer in preparation for daily deposit and completes written reports of daily activity.
- Responsible for general upkeep and cleanliness of parking booth and parking facilities.
Qualifications
EDUCATION
Required
- High school diploma or equivalent (such as HSED or GED)
WORK EXPERIENCE
Preferred
- Some prior experience in related field
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES
Preferred
- Possess a valid driver's license with the ability to be insured by Indiana University upon date of hire.
SKILLS
Required
- Proficient written and verbal communication skills
- Maintains a high degree of professionalism
- Demonstrates time management and priority setting skills
- Demonstrates a high commitment to quality
- Able to deal with many tasks concurrently including irate customers, answering questions, and reporting problems.
- Ability to read and learn parking regulations, departmental procedures, and policies and give customers correct information.
Working Conditions / Demands
This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.

$15.62 per hour
Work Hours
Variable schedule, may work evenings and weekends.
