The department specializes in programs that educate children (Birth-12) and families from various linguistic, cultural, and economic backgrounds. ECE faculty are recognized at local, state, national, and international (or global?) levels for transformative, impactful, cutting-edge teaching and research on innovative pedagogical practices, interdisciplinary and global learning, educator well-bring and curriculum with real-world applications.

Job Summary

Kennesaw State University is now accepting applications for a pool of open rank, part-time and limited term faculty positions in the Department of Elementary & Early Childhood Education for the academic year 2025-2026. These positions are on an as needed, semester-by-semester basis. Rank is determined at the time of hiring and will be commensurate with credentials. These positions are for work to be performed in the state of Georgia.

Responsibilities

  • Teaching undergraduate and/or graduate courses in the science content for teachers or science methods for elementary teachers
  • Collaborating with program and science education faculty
  • Gathering and scoring necessary assessment data for accreditation purposes
  • Participating in faculty meetings, program meetings and science education meetings

Teaching assignments will be based on earned degrees and SACSCOC Faculty Credentials Guidelines.

Required Qualifications

To teach undergraduate courses:

  • A minimum of a Master's degree, or the foreign equivalent, in Science (Biology, Environmental Science, Ecology, Geology for ISCI 2001 or Physics and/or Chemistry for ISCI 2002) or a closely related discipline

OR

  • A minimum of a Master's degree, or the foreign equivalent, in Science Education with 18 graduate credit hours in science content (Biology, Environment Science, Ecology, Geology, Ecology, Physics, Chemistry, or a related field) or a closely related discipline is required at the time of hire.

OR

  • A minimum of a Master's degree, or the foreign equivalent, in a non-related discipline with 18 graduate credit hours in the science content (Biology, Environment Science, Ecology, Geology, Ecology, Physics, Chemistry, or a related field) is required at the time of hire.

To teach graduate courses:

  • A Terminal/Doctorate degree, or the foreign equivalent, in Science Education with 18 graduate credit hours in science content (Biology, Environment Science, Ecology, Geology, Ecology, Physics, Chemistry, or a related field) or a related discipline is required at the time of hire.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience as a K-5 teacher.
  • Experience coaching or teaching preservice or inservice teachers
  • Experience teaching on-line or hybrid courses
  • Record of past teaching undergraduate courses
