Position Title: Part-Time Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) Instructor (Pool)
Campus: West Valley College
Definition: PART-TIME, ASSOCIATE FACULTY POOL
Applications for Part-Time, Associate Faculty pools are continually accepted (unless otherwise specified) by the District and will be added to the application pool for review by hiring authorities on an as-needed basis. Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging and effective instruction in networking fundamentals, including topics such as IP addressing, subnetting, routing, switching, security fundamentals, and basic network troubleshooting.
- Teach using Cisco Networking Academy curriculum (NetAcad) or equivalent instructional materials.
- Conduct in-person or virtual lectures, hands-on labs, assessments, and classroom discussions.
- Set up, maintain, and troubleshoot lab equipment including real Cisco hardware for practical student exercises.
- Provide guidance and support to students preparing for the CCNA certification exam.
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, progress, and grades in accordance with institutional policies.
- Stay current with industry trends and Cisco technologies; update course content as needed.
- Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment appropriate for high school learners.
- Participate in departmental meetings, curriculum planning, and professional development activities as needed.
Assignment:
This position is a part-time position as an Associate Instructor. The teaching assignment may require teaching lecture-discussion courses during day, evening or on Saturday and/or in an on-line/distance education format. The assignments are as needed, during Spring, Summer, and/or Fall semesters. This position is represented by the West Valley-Mission Federation of Teachers (WVMFT / AFT Local 6554).

Salary and Benefits:
Salary is based on a percentage of workload, up to a maximum of 67% of a full-time load. Salary is prorated based on an initial hiring salary range of $38,464 – $55,582 per semester; and is based on academic achievement, teaching and related experience.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education and Experience: Any associate degree and six years of professional experience in networking, IT infrastructure, or a related field; OR any bachelor’s degree and two years of professional experience in networking, IT infrastructure, or a related field.
AND
Certification: Current and valid Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification.
AND
Demonstrated ability to effectively teach, counsel or work with persons of diverse socioeconomic, cultural, disability and ethnic backgrounds.
