Part-Time Faculty, Department of Sociology
Rank: Adjunct Instructor
Tenure Information: Non-Tenure Track
Department Summary:
The Department of Sociology at Bridgewater State University helps students cultivate their sociological imagination, the ability to understand how individual and group behavior is shaped by historical and social forces; how individual problems, including their own, are related to broader social structures, including global ones; and how to work towards resolving issues of exclusion and inequality and to move towards social justice. By studying sociological theory and research students hone their critical thinking skills, enabling them to participate effectively in professional, personal, and public life in the increasingly connected, globalizing world. Students graduating with a degree in sociology from BSU will be able to think critically about the problems and potentials of a diverse society and use qualitative and quantitative research skills to envision solutions to social problems. The Department of Sociology provides a strong liberal arts curriculum aimed at developing well-rounded, informed citizens with strong critical thinking abilities.
