Basic Functions
Essential Functions of Position
Provide quality instructions, create and maintain an environment which emphasizes teaching and learning and encourages free discussion of ideas, interests and issues. Primary duties of Part-time faculty members are related to curriculum and teaching; the assignment is divided between lecture and lab classes as determined by the department. Part-time instructional faculty are required to be available to students outside of class.
Part-Time Faculty Salary
The starting credit part-time faculty rate from salary table 11 is $102.90 per hour-Lecture and $82.33 per hour-Lab. If you have a doctorate, the rate is $107.87 per hour-Lecture and $86.30 per hour-Lab.
Representative Duties
Under the general supervision of the Dean of Physical Education and work direction of the Director of Athletics, the Head Men's Tennis Coach provides comprehensive leadership over the Men's Tennis team in terms of California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) compliance, recruiting, ensuring academic progress toward degree, as well as all other aspects of the intercollegiate sport program for golf, including, but not limited to: planning and executing practice, training, and supervising student-athletes; scheduling athletic contests and arranging transportation; preparing budgets; maintaining athletic equipment, supplies and facilities; and enforcing district, college, and student requirements. Coaching assignments may include day, evening, and weekend classes, on and off campus responsibilities.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
College Coaching experience in subject sport preferred.
Education and Experience
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Candidates must possess the minimum qualifications for the discipline as approved by the California Community Colleges Board of Governors and defined in the Minimum Qualifications for Faculty and Administrators in California Community Colleges handbook.
Bachelor's degree AND Two years of experience
OR
Any associate degree AND Six years of experience
OR
Possess a combination of education and experience that is at least the equivalent to all of the above. Candidates making an application on the basis of equivalency must submit an Application for Equivalency in addition to all other required material AND
Evidence of a sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, culture, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty and staff.
If the title of your degree as stated on your transcripts DOES NOT EXACTLY MATCH one of the degree titles listed in the minimum qualifications listed above, you must request an equivalency review and submit conclusive supporting documents at the time of application. Those documents include a completed SBCC Equivalency Crosswalk and a narrative synopsis of your educational background justifying equivalency.
