Nevada State University actively maintains an open pool of qualified individuals to be selected on an as-needed basis by the department to fulfill part-time temporary instructional needs and applications are accepted on an ongoing basis.
Nevada State invites applications for an open pool of adjunct faculty for in-person, online, or hybrid courses in Nevada State University's Workforce Development programs.
Applications will be considered on an as-needed basis determined by program and/or course availability.
Adjunct faculty members are compensated at the rate of $1,000-1,200 per credit hour equivalent, dependent on instructional level, and subject matter expertise, with courses ranging from 1-6 credits.

As the non-credit education division of Nevada State University, Workforce Development delivers professional development, continuing education, industry-aligned training, stackable micro-credentials, certificates, and digital badges designed to support learners at various stages of their educational and professional journeys.
Core Responsibilities:
- Confer with Workforce Development staff to discuss program goals, course objectives, course material, and assessments.
- Develop course objectives and deliver a curriculum that utilizes innovative classroom techniques and methodologies to offer students challenging learning opportunities.
- Engage students in learning activities throughout the entirety of the course to enhance their learning and skill development.
- Complete skill and project assessments to highlight successful completion of course.
- Monitor student success and address inadequate progress with applicable individuals.
- Network with college and community resources to include creative active-learning experiences.
- Participate in program development meetings and coordinate with instructional designer to develop web-based content.
- Improve program delivery through continuous improvement of course(s).
Minimum Qualifications:
- Youth Programs: High School diploma or equivalent, some college preferred.
- Professional & Continuing Education Programs: Bachelor's degree or five (5) years of related industry experience with appropriate industry-recognized certification(s) in the teaching area, or closely-related field.
- Demonstrated evidence of effective interpersonal, communication, organizational, and technology skills.
- Evidence of a strong commitment to teaching, mentorship, educational excellence, and learner success.
- Ability to develop and deliver engaging instructional experiences for diverse learner populations, which may include youth learners, adult professionals, or mixed-experience audiences.
- Positions involving minors require successful completion of a criminal background investigation conducted by the University.
- Eligibility to work in the United States without sponsorship (Nevada State does not sponsor employment-related visas).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Graduate or terminal degree in the teaching area(s) or closely related field plus significant industry, professional, leadership, creative, technical, or executive-level experience relevant to the instructional discipline.
- Previous teaching, training, facilitation, mentoring, or curriculum development experience with youth and/or adult learners.
- Demonstrated commitment to active learning, applied instruction, innovative teaching methodologies, and inclusive educational practices.
- Competency with learning management systems and web-based instructional platforms, including experience supporting in-person, hybrid, and/or online learning environments.
- Experience integrating workforce readiness, career exploration, interdisciplinary learning, or industry applications into instructional delivery.
