Part-Time Lecturer (Health Law Externship Seminar), Clinical and Experiential Programs, Boston University School of Law
Boston University School of Law invites applications from candidates for a part-time lecturer position to teach in BU Law's Health Law Externship Seminar. Teaching the course will begin in Spring 2027. Working closely with full-time experiential faculty, the lecturer will teach and supervise law students in the 1-credit seminar. The lecturer will also have freedom to help further develop the existing one semester curriculum.
The goal of the Health Law Externship is to introduce students to various practice areas within health law. Students complete their fieldwork with placements (law firms, agencies, and corporations) that expose students to the diverse aspects of practicing health law. While in the field, students work under the direct supervision of licensed attorneys. To supplement this experience, students also participate in a bi-weekly seminar. The lecturer of this seminar helps students to contextualize their work and expand their understanding of the field by connecting students with experts in the field who can provide diverse perspectives. The lecturer will instruct students and facilitate discussions regarding; professional responsibility, ethical considerations within the practice of health law, connections between substantive health law courses and health law practice, and assisting students to become reflective practitioners.
Students participate in a bi-weekly two-hour seminar that complements their fieldwork. Students spend time throughout the week at their field placement. The lecturer will also meet with students individually to discuss their goals and progress throughout the semester, providing timely feedback on their work and encouraging student reflection.
The School of Law believes that the cultural and social diversity of our faculty, staff, and students is vitally important to the distinction and excellence of our academic programs. To that end, we are especially eager to hear from applicants who support our institutional commitment to BU as an inclusive, equitable, and diverse community.
