Wilkinson College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences at Chapman University seeks applications for its Part-Time Lecturer Pool for potential teaching opportunities in the following areas/disciplines:

  • Interdisciplinary Minors (Africana Studies, Asian American Studies, Creative and Cultural Industries, Disability Studies, Environmental Studies, Ethnic Studies, Health Humanities, Latinx and Latin American Studies, Law & Liberal Arts, LGBTQ Studies, Religious Studies, and Women’s & Gender Studies)

Appointments from the part-time pool are temporary and often made just prior to the start of the academic term, so applicants must be available on very short notice. The Fall term begins mid-August and ends late-December; the Spring term begins mid-January and ends mid-May. Opportunities for teaching during the Summer and Interterm Sessions may also be available.

Qualifications

Required

  • Earned graduate degree from an accredited institution or professional equivalency
  • Demonstrated currency in subject matter
  • Strong commitment to student learning, quality teaching, and academic excellence.
  • Ability to motivate and teach students of diverse learning styles and backgrounds.
  • Ability to teach in-person on campus

Preferred

  • Earned Graduate degree from an accredited institution in the subject area related to the position being sought

Wilkinson College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences will draw from the pool as necessary when openings arise. Only those selected for an interview will be contacted. Applications will remain in the applicant pool until the end of Chapman University’s fiscal year, May 31. Should you remain interested in future openings, you will need to reapply.

Please note: A maximum of 6 credits can be taught per semester.

The pay for the course and course-related work for this position is $46.85 per hour. This position is contingent on final budget approval. Successful completion of a background check is required for all selected candidates.
