JOB TITLE:
Patient Account Representative - Cheyenne
JOB PURPOSE:
Serve as primary point of contact for patients. Provide exceptional
customer service in response to high volume of incoming calls
regarding account status. Determine compliance with departmental
policies and procedures and the Fair Debt Collections Act (FDCPA)
and HIPAA regulations, position located in Cheyenne, WY
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide customer service to all patients and answer questions
regarding medial accounts.
- Explain insurance benefits to patients regarding Explanation of
Benefits (EOB) and balances.
- Collect updated insurance information from patients and notify
billing specialist of changes.
- Assist patients with terms for repayment structures by setting
up payment plans.
- Generate statements for patients.
- Review rejected statements containing invalid information.
Update said information and resubmit.
- Review delinquent accounts and submit to collection
agency.
- Enter qualifying accounts into Medicare Bad Debt
spreadsheet.
- Contact patients to inform of overdue balances.
- Serve as back up for front desk.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: High School/GED
Experience: 1-2 years customer service experience in healthcare
setting
Experience Evaluation
Minimum experience requirements are evaluated on a full-time
equivalent (FTE) basis. Relevant part-time experience will be
prorated based on hours worked. For example, two years working an
average of 20 hours per week is equivalent to approximately one
year of full-time experience.
Applicants must include the average hours worked per week for all
current and previous positions. Failure to provide this information
may affect the evaluation of qualifications.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Proven experience using a Practice Management System and/or
managing Accounts Receivable functions
- Progressive experience in a medical office setting, including
daily account reconciliation and posting patient payments
- Prior experience working in a Federally Qualified Health Center
(FQHC) or Rural Health Clinic (RHC)
- Proficiency in spreadsheet tools (e.g., Excel, Google Sheets)
and/or experience developing data dashboards
- Strong analytical and creative problem-solving skills
- Exceptional organizational abilities with keen attention to
detail
