Penn Dental Family Practice is comprised of over 35 doctors, 18 dental hygienists, 26 dental assistants, 18 staff AND GROWING! Together, the team works collaboratively to provide multi-specialty care utilizing leading techniques in patient care.
Job Description
Our ideal candidate will assist the Penn Dental Family Practice in providing patient-focused experiences supporting the delivery of high-quality care.
PATIENT EXPERIENCE:
- Professionally greet & assist patients by scheduling appointments, providing explanation and translating information concerning dental clinic, charges, policies, & procedures.
- Consistently demonstrate concern and courtesy for colleagues and patients, following up with individuals to ensure satisfaction with the level of service expected.
- Educate and motivate patients by giving oral hygiene and plaque control instructions, presents and explains treatment plants to patients, demonstrates effective communication to bridge the gap between a pending treatment plan and a completed treatment plan, provides postoperative instructions and schedules and subsequent visits.
PATIENT COORDINATOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Accurately gather patient demographics, insurance and/or financial information to establish patient's account, financial & billing data. Handle all insurance verification as well as pre- and post-appointment activity. Verify & maintain the accuracy of patient records including demographics, insurance, financial & guarantor data. Provide coverage and support as needed for the practice.
- Checking in/checking out, patient registration, appointment scheduling, and referrals/pre-authorizations.
- Review appointment book for accuracy & completion of dental procedures including appointment book controls for maintaining productive & efficient patient flow.
- Respond to routine treatment & billing questions.
- Reconcile daily cash receipts. Collect co-pays and explain PDFP polices regarding co-pays required at the time of service.
- Accurately create schedules with the faculty practices meeting targeted daily goals.
- Other duties as assigned. Provide and maintain expertise in innovative solutions focused on the responsible stewardship of Penn Dental Medicine and its community experience.

- Protect patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols.
- Conserves dental resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results; monitors inventory; maintains proper usage and operations of equipment.
- Expand technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
- Flexibility in scheduling is required for all positions.
- Contribute to team effort by accomplishing and supporting as assigned.

DESIRED EXPERIENCE & POSITION EXPECTATIONS
- A High School Diploma or GED and 2 years to 3 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
- Proficiency with Axium strongly preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to interact with all levels as well as a diverse population; excellent organizational and detail-oriented skills
- Computer proficiency required
- Previous experience working in healthcare environment strongly preferred.
