Patrol Supervisor
Position Summary
The Patrol Supervisor plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety and security of the Hamilton College Community. Key aspects of the role include supervising approximately 12 full time and 17 part time NYS licensed security guards. The patrol supervisor is responsible for the management of response to calls for service, crime prevention and the monitoring of alarm and security systems, while ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations. This position may require patrol duties to ensure minimum patrol coverage and adaptability to work various shifts in a 24/7/365 campus safety operation.
The work schedule is Tuesday – Saturday 10:00 PM – 6:00 AM (Shift begins Monday night at 10:00 PM and ends Saturday morning at 6:00 AM)
Responsibilities
KEY SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS:
- Strong leadership and supervisory skills
- communication and problem solving skills are essential
- Knowledge of security procedures and crime prevention strategies
- ability to recognize, resolve and refer problems appropriately
- Knowledge of federal and state laws relevant to campus safety and security
- This position is a blend of administrative and hands on work
OPERATIONAL AND ADMINISTRATIVE DUTIES
- Supervision of patrol officers
- Scheduling of officers, ensuring adequate staffing and patrol coverage
- Review and submit officer reports to Maxient Conduct Manager
- Respond to complaints with officers, provide guidance and correction as needed
- Conduct required fire drills while providing education to the community on fire safety
- Assist the Director and Assistant Directors with the coordination of security for large scale events.
- Assist with patrol duties, as needed
- Other duties as assigned
Education and Experience
High school diploma and NYS Security Guard license. Previous experience in a lead or supervisor role preferred. Background in campus safety operations or comparable law enforcement experience.
