PCA - Outpatient Wound Care
Scope of Position
The Ohio State University Medical Center’s mission is focused on integrating quality patient care, education, and research; the Patient Care Associate (PCA) functions as an integral member of a team of health care providers on a patient care unit who reflect a culture of cooperation, enthusiasm, and mutual respect; provides patient care and supportive services directed towards achievement of positive patient care outcomes, maximizing the patient’s involvement in his/her own plan of care, improving service levels, reducing the length of hospitalization and decreasing costs; provides supportive patient care in collaboration with the patient, family and other members of the health care team; participates in activities to ensure patients and their families will experience the benefits of patient-focused care through the integrated skills of all care team members.
Position Summary
The PCA provides a variety of direct and indirect patient care activities as supervised and directed by a registered nurse; assists patient care team in meeting patient care needs, transportation, inventory control, and environmental service activities; provides assistance and support to patients with activities of daily living (ADLs); identifies opportunities for improvement in patient care and organizational processes; participates in performance improvement activities.
Minimum Education Required
HS Graduate or Equivalent or equivalent combination of education and experience.
