Registered Nurse (RN) position
(in-person daytime hours only:
Monday–Friday, 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.; no nights, weekends, or
holidays) in our Health Services department.
Summary:
Join Skidmore College Health Services as a Per Diem Registered
Nurse. This as-needed position offers flexible, daytime-only hours
(Monday–Friday, 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.) — no nights, weekends, or
holidays. The ideal candidate is available at least one weekday per
week and is excited to collaborate with our Health Services team to
provide high-quality, compassionate care to our students.
Primary Job Duties:
- Takes a health history, conducts an appropriate assessment
based on the presenting problems, evaluates findings and documents
these clearly and succinctly in an electronic health record
Differentiates between normal and abnormal findings
Consults with Health Services’ clinicians to perform
appropriate laboratory and other diagnostic tests, including rapid
point-of-care tests and phlebotomy.
Recognizes and empathizes with the unique psychological needs
of the college-aged population and respects their right to
privacy
Recognizes when referral to a Health Services’ provider or
community resource is appropriate, including utilization of
appropriate clinical triage skills
Offers appropriate treatments and education to students using
Health Services’ protocols and practicing within the scope of their
professional license
Serves as a resource to the greater Skidmore College community
regarding health issues, federal and state mandates and current
medical practice
Qualifications:
Education : Current license to practice as a Registered
Nurse in New York State
Experience : 2-3 year minimum experience as a RN, college
health experience highly desirable, ambulatory or Med/Surg
experience valuable
