Overview

On successful completion of the Ph.D. in Eurasian Studies from Nazarbayev University, students should be able to:

Critically analyze and demonstrate detailed knowledge of the history, culture and society of the Eurasian Region appropriate to a specialist in the field.
Differentiate, compare and employ concepts from different disciplines and/or interdisciplinary approaches at a specialist's level.
Examine and explain a range of primary and secondary, written and/or oral and/or visual sources, in their original language.

These include the exercise of initiative and personal responsibility; the ability to sift and evaluate large amounts of evidence and data, and use them to compose clear and well-ordered arguments informed by two disciplines; decision-making in complex and unpredictable situations; a critical approach to knowledge, and the independent learning ability required for continuing professional and academic development.

During the application period, final year master's students may submit an official transcript for current coursework for consideration; A minimum CGPA of 2.75 out of 4.00 in an applicant's Master's degree. For PhD in Eurasian studies program, a competitive CGPA in an applicant's Master's degree.

International: 33,152 AUD / year (≈ 23,500 USD / year)
Domestic: 33,152 AUD / year (≈ 23,500 USD / year)

For residents of the Republic of Kazakhstan, payments are processed in the national currency at the internal exchange rate of 486 KZT per 1 USD, as approved by the University.

Living costs — Astana, Kazakhstan

480-705 AUD / month. The living costs include the total expenses per month, covering accommodation, public transportation, utilities (electricity, internet), books and groceries.
