Overview
The Chinese Studies programmes at The Chinese University of Hong Kong are examined in English and are pursued in a multilingual Chinese community at a university uniquely committed since its establishment to the study of Chinese culture in an environment of academic freedom.

General requirements
Entry Requirement for PhD in Chinese Studies
In order to qualify for admission into the PhD programme, applicants must have completed the following:
- Graduated from a recognized university and obtained a Master's degree in an area related to Chinese Studies; or
- Have a Bachelor's degree – normally with Second Class Honours in the upper division or above – and have been registered in a course of study for a Master's degree at this University for at least one year and have demonstrated research ability; or
- Have been registered in a course of study for a doctoral degree at a recognized university for at least one year, and have been approved for admission by the Graduate Council.

Living costs
Hong Kong (SAR): 2,467–4,212 AUD / month. The living costs include the total expenses per month, covering accommodation, public transportation, utilities (electricity, internet), books and groceries.
