Learning outcomes
Upon completing the PhD degree in the field of Earth, Environmental and Planetary Sciences, students at Rice University will be able to:
- Understand the structure and composition of the Earth and Planets, their evolution, and how the Earth changes over time.
- Use appropriate computational or analytical techniques in the conduct of research investigations.
- Demonstrate significant skills in scientific communication, written and oral.

- Many of our faculty received their undergraduate training outside of the geosciences (e.g., physics, chemistry, math, etc.), so we recognize the value of these fundamental disciplines in our field.

- TOEFL, IELTS, or Duolingo scores for foreign students whose language of instruction was not English
- Three letters of recommendation
