PhD Position in Droplet Size Control in Liquid Sprays
Job Summary
This PhD position is part of an ERC-funded project entitled "Precision Rayleigh jet sprays," focusing on understanding liquid spray formation and improving control over droplet size distribution using novel spraying techniques. It is based in the Soft Matter Group at the Institute of Physics.
Responsibilities
- Work in a team on liquid sprays.
- Combine breakthroughs in hydrodynamics of spray formation with nanofabrication of spray nozzles to achieve unprecedented control over drop size distribution.
- Utilize external control parameters such as nozzle design, liquid rheology, and electric charging of liquid droplets.
Qualifications and Requirements
- A master’s degree in physics or a related field.
- Background in fluid mechanics or soft matter.
- Good communication skills in oral and written English.
- Creative, curious, and driven nature.
- Strong initiative and good time management skills.
What the Employer Offers
- A temporary contract for 38 hours per week for a duration of 4 years (initially 18 months, extendable after evaluation).
- Gross monthly salary between €3,059 and €3,881, based on 38 hours per week and relevant experience.
- Additional benefits including 8% holiday allowance and 8.3% year-end allowance.
