Offer Description
Impact on combustion process of the composition of multi-component fuels with different physicochemical properties is a challenging issue. Among essential scientific questionings, but not well documented up to now, is the effect of the multi-component fuel composition on combustion instabilities. It is all the more crucial as a technical solution to reduce the environmental impact of aircraft engines is the use of SAFs, which are envisaged as drop-in fuels.
In particular, in order to deepen our knowledge of the impact of the different evaporation rates characterizing the blend components, experiments will be conducted with air flow temperature above the vaporization temperature of one component. Moreover, the Flame Describing Functions (FDFs), used in low-order models to capture the thermoacoustic loop, will be examined as functions not only of the composition but also of other operating conditions (atomizer design, swirlers, and flame spacing), in order to establish their robustness considering the variability of multicomponent fuels.
