The Bundesanstalt für Materialforschung und -prüfung (BAM) is a materials research organization in Germany. Our mission is to ensure safety in technology and chemistry. We perform research and testing in materials science, materials engineering and chemistry to improve the safety of products and processes. At BAM we do research that matters. Our work covers a broad array of topics in the focus areas of energy, infrastructure, environment, materials, and chemistry and process engineering.
Your responsibilities include
Scientific services in research within the framework of a BMFTR third-party funded project in the field of high-temperature sodium-sulfur batteries with solid electrolytes. In this context, in particular:
- Experimental investigations on high-temperature sodium–sulfur batteries with a focus on safety and aging
- Establishment of test infrastructure for safety testing of high-temperature batteries
- Optimization of cycling programs, long-term measurements, and investigation of degradation mechanisms
- Publication of results in peer-reviewed journals
- Presentation of results at national and international conferences
- Preparation of reports
Your qualifications
- Above-average completed academic university degree in materials science, engineering, or a comparable field
- Practical research experience in electrochemistry or batteries
- International research experience is an advantage
- Very good command of English; good knowledge of German is an advantage
- Good communication and information skills, goal-oriented and structured working style, initiative/commitment; ability to work in a team and willingness to cooperate as well as willingness to learn
