Position Summary:
The Department of Philosophy, Anthropology, and Religion at Central Michigan University invites applications for a fixed-term faculty position in Philosophy to begin August 2026. The teaching load is 4 courses per semester, and will consist primarily of sections of Contemporary Moral Problems and Introduction to Philosophy, to be taught in-person on our campus in Mount Pleasant, Michigan. Sufficient competence in business ethics to teach an existing online business ethics course is also desirable. Preference among otherwise outstanding candidates may be given to those whose research interests complement those of the current PHL faculty. This position has the possibility of renewal, subject to favorable evaluation and annual enrollment projections.
Required Qualifications:
- ABD status in Philosophy, or a conferred doctoral degree in Philosophy.
- Ability to teach Contemporary Moral Problems and Introduction to Philosophy.
- Evidence of outstanding classroom teaching.
- Ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in Philosophy.
- Competence in business ethics sufficient to teach existing online course.
