Placement Coordinator - Counseling & Therapy
PRIMARY PURPOSE
The Placement Coordinator - Counseling & Therapy within the Graduate School of Education and Counseling reports directly to the Director of Strategic Partnerships and Placements. This role is primarily responsible for coordinating and maintaining clinical practicum, externship, and internship placements for graduate students across multiple counseling and therapy programs.
The ideal candidate will possess strong communication, relationship-building, and organizational skills; experience collaborating with clinical partners and higher education stakeholders; and a commitment to equity and social justice in education.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Placement
- Collaborate with faculty in counseling and therapy programs to understand and respond to placement needs of multiple academic programs.
- Maintain an understanding of the academic, placement, and licensing requirements for each supported program.
- Communicate with graduate students and faculty about placement processes.
- Work with mental health partners to facilitate placement of graduate candidates from different graduate school programs in clinical sites with a goal of 100% of students with a confirmed placement by the start of term.
Data Collection and Review
- Collect licensure and employment data from supervisors and/or students for tracking and accreditation purposes.
- Review and monitor data for completeness using an established CRM system.
Strategic Relationship Management
- In collaboration with Strategic Partnerships and Placement Director, develop and maintain good working relationships with mental health partners.
Event Planning
- Plan and host internship fair for Professional Mental Health Counseling, Professional Mental Health Counseling-Addictions, Marriage and Family Therapy, and Art Therapy programs.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, & BEHAVIORS
Proficient in maintaining accurate and organized data within CRM systems such as Salesforce and other database tools. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Superior judgment and discretion in managing sensitive information and relationships. Extremely organized and detail-oriented.
REQUIRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's degree in education, counseling, human services, communication, liberal arts, or a related field
- Three years of experience building and maintaining partnerships between higher education and internship sites
PREFERRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
- Experience supporting counselor and therapist preparation programs such as art therapy, marriage, couple, and family therapy, and professional mental health counseling
- Experience in counseling and therapy environments
- Familiarity with Portland-area mental health agencies
- Experience working with Salesforce, FormAssembly, and Google Suite
WORK SCHEDULE
Schedule: 37.5 hours per week, Monday through Friday. Benefit Eligible: Yes. Travel: Occasional local travel to clinical sites. Primarily on-campus position with regular in-person presence required.
PAY RATE
FLSA Status: Exempt. $69,000 per year
