Post-Award Compliance Officer - Sponsored Programs & Research
The Office of Sponsored Programs & Research Administration (OSPRA) supports faculty, staff, and students in the acquisition and administration of externally funded projects and programs, the ethical conduct of research, and the development of internal and external research collaborations to advance the mission of the University. OSPRA's central vision is to significantly grow the portfolio of externally funded grants and contracts for Valdosta State University.
Supervisor Expectations
- Serve as the first point of contact for principal investigators (PIs) and researchers (faculty, staff, and students) for assistance with the administrative management of sponsored programs.
- Support PIs by reviewing expenditures for compliance, resolve account issues, meet with PIs regularly to monitor and review grant awards, facilitate effort reporting and certifications, prepare projections for awards, work to resolve errors, request extensions, and assist in closing out the grant at its expiration.
- Review, reconcile, and project award finances, preparing adjustments and corrections to award budgets, ensure all financial requirements of the award have been met by the end of the award.
- Liaison between the PI and Financial Services, Human Resources, Payroll, Restricted Funds Accountant, Procurement, and other post-award campus partners.
- Analyze processes to improve workflow, find efficiencies to avoid repetition of errors, implement improved faculty satisfaction of the grants management, and provide formal and informal training opportunities.
- Stay current with all new and existing regulatory requirements and institutional policies/procedures and keep PIs, faculty, and department leaders informed of changes.
Required Experience
- Bachelor's degree and five (5) years of related work experience.
