The Center for Translational Medical Devices (CENTMED) at New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) seeks to recruit a post-doctoral associate to join a new initiative focused on designing and developing a machine perfusion system to improve organ preservation.
The candidate will work in a dynamic, multidisciplinary environment alongside PhD-level engineers and scientists, graduate students, and full-time researchers. This position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact on next-generation organ preservation technologies, bridging the gap between engineering innovation and clinical application and allowing for longer preservation times and improved transplantation outcomes.
Applicants must have a PhD in Mechanical, Biomedical, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, with less than 5 years post receiving their PhD. Excellent experimental skills relevant to the project (in particular, medical instruments, fluid control, mechanical design, electronics, and manufacturing) are required. Proficiency in English is required.
Qualified applicants should possess comprehensive expertise in the following areas:
- System hardware integration of medical instruments
- Advanced proficiency in the design and implementation of a perfusion system for biological tissue
- Experience with the design and implementation of a cooling system
Furthermore, preference will be given to candidates demonstrating technical familiarity with:
- Embedded system design for multiple sensors (flow, pressure, temperature) and control
