Post-doctoral Fellow in Surface Science Laboratory in the Department of Physics (Ref. 534745)

Duties and Responsibilities

• work on the projects of material science, surface science via scanning tunnelling microscopy
• maintain/refine the research instruments
• coordinate data collection and analysis
• assist in the preparation of reports and manuscripts
• perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

• a Ph.D. degree in Physics or a related discipline
• strong background or experience in one or more of the following areas: 2D materials, carbon nanotubes, scanning tunnelling microscopy/spectroscopy, molecular beam epitaxy
• an excellent command of written and spoken English
• good interpersonal, communication, organizational and problem-solving skills
• the ability to work independently and in a team
• the ability to work on a tight schedule to meet project deadlines
• self-motivated and responsible

What we offer

The appointment will commence as soon as possible, initially for a contract period of 2 years, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance and funding availability.

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered.
