We are looking for Post-doctoral Fellows/Research Assistants to be funded by the Hong Kong Innovation and Technology Commission (ITC) on a newly awarded project titled "AC-Xray: A Platform for Dependability Assessment of Large Language Models in Industrial Sectors".
The project focuses on developing a comprehensive, automated dependability evaluation platform for Large Language Models (LLMs) used in industrial sectors. The research involves both software-level analysis and system-level assessment. The goal is to offer a comprehensive security resource for industrial users and maintainers of LLMs.
The appointees will carry out the following duties:
Conduct advanced research on LLM dependability, including designing testing techniques and system-level security analysis;
Lead the development of the AC-Xray platform, integrating analysis tools into a unified system;
Work seamlessly with industrial partners to validate research findings in real-world industrial scenarios;
Publish research findings at top-tier security, systems, and software engineering venues; and
Assist in patent applications and technology transfer of the developed methodologies.
Qualifications
- A PhD degree (for applicants for Post-doctoral Fellow) or bachelor’s degree (for applicants for Research Assistant) in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Cybersecurity or a related field;
- Strong background in software, system and AI;
- Proficiency in coding and building research prototypes; and
- Good communication skills and the ability to mentor junior students.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in LLM Security/Safety: Familiarity with robustness evaluation or safety assessment of LLMs;
- Experience in Software Analysis: Experience with automated testing techniques (e.g., fuzzing and differential testing);
- Experience in System: Knowledge of system-level security analysis, cloud computing, trusted execution environments, operating systems or low-level security mechanisms; and
- Track Record: Publications in top-tier conferences.
Duration: 1-2 years (project implementation period: March 2026 – February 2028), renewable based on performance and mutual agreement.
Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits including annual leave, medical and dental benefits will be provided. A gratuity will be payable upon successful completion of a 2-year contract.
