Importantly, this project will determine the potential role of complement components as novel predictors of response to neoadjuvant treatment in rectal cancer patients and will also determine the relationship between complement and key immune cells in the tumour microenvironment to identify novel combination immunotherapy and neoadjuvant treatment approaches for those patients who are resistant to the current standard of care.
