Postdoc in Integrating in-line Vision Technology and AI for Improved Concrete Production

Are you passionate about inline-vision technology in concrete production?
We’re looking for a full-time Postdoc (18 months) to join the Digital Building Technology (DBT) section at DTU, Department of Civil and Mechanical Engineering (DTU Construct). In this role, you will develop a deep learning–based image analysis framework designed for in-line monitoring of concrete and its constituent materials, utilizing hyperspectral imaging data as input. We want to enable real-time prediction and assessment of the materials’ physicochemical behaviour and performance characteristics. This position is one out of two postdoc positions granted by Innovation Fund Denmark within the VISTACON project.

Responsibilities

As a part of this project, your responsibilities will encompass the following tasks:

  • Implement and optimise deep learning–based models for the quality control and real-time assessment of concrete constituents within in-line production.
  • Develop and train predictive algorithms based on hyperspectral imaging inputs to estimate determined material properties and performance indicators.
  • Developing a graphical user interface (GUI) to facilitate the intuitive application of the model by non-expert users.
  • Close collaboration with the rest of our interdisciplinary team at DTU Construct and Vistacon, especially the other postdoc focusing on material characterisation.
  • Dissemination of your research through publications in “top rank journals of the field” and attendance to conferences.
  • Research and teaching efforts at a section and departmental level as appropriate and relevant (e.g., teach and supervise PhD and MSc student projects).

Qualification

You should have a background within deep learning, big-data, computer vision, or related fields, as well as experience in in-line process monitoring or similar areas. Preference will be given to candidates with competence in concrete characterization and experimental research.
We are looking for a team player who can also work independently, who is motivated to help and be part of a dynamic research environment; and who has a positive, supportive and creative outlook. We expect you to have good communication and personal interaction skills and to be fluent in English.
As a formal qualification, you must hold a PhD degree (or equivalent).
