Position Summary

The Institute for Biomedical Sciences (IBMS) at Georgia State University (GSU) invites applications for a highly motivated Postdoctoral Fellow to join our research team in the areas of immunology, virology, and vaccine development. The successful candidate will participate in innovative research aimed at understanding host-pathogen interactions and developing next-generation vaccines.

Responsibilities

Design, perform, and optimize in vitro and animal studies related to immunology, virology, and vaccine development.
Analyze, interpret, and present experimental data using appropriate statistical and computational approaches.
Prepare manuscripts for publication in high-impact peer-reviewed journals.
Contribute to the preparation and writing of competitive research grant applications.
Maintain accurate laboratory records and present research findings at laboratory meetings and scientific conferences.
Mentor and train graduate and undergraduate students, as well as research technicians, in laboratory techniques, experimental design, and data analysis.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary investigators to advance ongoing research projects.

Required Qualifications

Ph.D. in Immunology, Virology, Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Biomedical Sciences, or a closely related field.
Extensive research experience in immunology, virology, and vaccine development.
Hands-on experience with molecular, cellular, and immunological techniques and animal models.
Demonstrated ability to design and execute independent research projects.
Strong data analysis, scientific writing, and communication skills.
A publication record in peer-reviewed journals commensurate with career stage.
Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a collaborative research environment.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in vaccine design, development, or preclinical evaluation.
Experience preparing or contributing to research grant applications.
Previous experience mentoring students or supervising laboratory personnel.
