Applications are invited for appointment as a Postdoctoral Fellow in Faculty of Arts (Ref.: 534972), affiliated with the AI & Humanity Lab at the University of Hong Kong, to commence as soon as possible. The initial appointment will be for two years, subject to performance and funding.

The position combines independent research with editorial and management responsibilities for the journal Philosophy of AI.

This is a 50/50 position. Half the time will be devoted to the appointee’s own philosophical research on AI. The other half will be devoted to editorial and management work for the journal.

On the research side, the appointee will pursue an independent research programme in the philosophy of AI and participate in the activities of the AI & Humanity Lab.

Applicants should have completed a Ph.D. in philosophy or a closely related field by the time of appointment and must be based in Hong Kong. The position is open to candidates working in philosophy of AI or a neighbouring area. Strong organisational and communication skills are required.

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered. Other benefits include annual leave, medical benefits and free access to on-campus gyms and libraries.

The University only accepts online applications for the above post. Applicants should apply online at the University’s careers site and upload an up-to-date C.V., a writing sample of scholarly work, and a brief statement (maximum one page) describing relevant editorial, organisational, or management experience, and explaining the applicant’s interest in the journal management component of the role. Shortlisted applicants will be requested to arrange for two references. Review of applications will start from 2026-05-12 (extended to 2026-06-30) and continue until the post is filled.
