Postdoctoral Neuroscientist
Postdoctoral Neuroscientist
Nuffield Department of Clinical Neurosciences (NDCN), Brain Network Dynamics Unit, Mansfield Road, OX2 3TH
We are seeking to appoint an outstanding Postdoctoral Neuroscientist to join the Sharott Group at the MRC Centre of Excellence in Restorative Neural Dynamics (CoRE RND) and Brain Network Dynamics Unit (BNDU), part of the Nuffield Department of Clinical Neurosciences at the University of Oxford. This full-time, fixed-term position is funded by Aligning Science Across Parkinson’s (ASAP) and is available from 1 June 2026.
The postholder will contribute to an exciting international, collaborative research programme investigating the neural mechanisms underlying sleep and circadian rhythm disturbances in Parkinson’s disease. Working at the interface of preclinical and clinical neuroscience, you will analyse high-density electrophysiological data from rodent models and contribute to laboratory-based and at-home EEG and behavioural studies in people with Parkinson’s disease. A key aspect of the role will be the development and application of closed-loop stimulation approaches, including custom-built auditory stimulation systems designed to restore physiological sleep-related neural dynamics. You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team in Oxford and with collaborators across the ASAP Collaborative Research Network (CRN), an international, multidisciplinary, multi-institutional network working to address high-priority research questions about Parkinson's disease, supported by ASAP, in partnership with The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research (MJFF).
You will hold (or be close to completion of) a PhD in neuroscience or a related discipline, with expertise in EEG recording and analysis and analysis of neural oscillations. Experience in using closed-loop stimulation paradigms and in sleep research is desirable. For informal enquiries. please contact Prof. Andrew Sharott (<andrew.sharott@bndu.ox.ac.uk>).
Please see the below 'Job Description' for further details on the role, responsibilities, and selection criteria, as well as further information about the university and how to apply.
