Remuneration: $96,342 to $130,727 pa (LEVA) (inclusive of $81,410 to $110,466 salary pa, 17% superannuation and 17.5% recreation leave loading).

Who are we looking for?
We are seeking a Postdoctoral Research Fellow (Applied Mathematics) to join School of Mathematical Sciences, Faculty of Science.
We are recruiting a motivated post-doctoral fellow to join the Australian Research Council Centre of Excellence for the Mathematical Analysis of Cellular Systems (MACSYS); the world’s largest focused research initiative in mathematical biology. MACSYS brings together mathematical, computational, and biological scientists to generate the mathematics and computational technologies required to make biology predictive. The position is intended for applied mathematicians. In addition to the primary responsibility of undertaking research that advances the MACSYS mission, there may also be opportunities to contribute to undergraduate or postgraduate teaching in the mathematical sciences.

The School of Mathematical Sciences (SMS) is a vibrant, multidisciplinary school with extensive teaching and research programs covering the fields of statistics, operations research and applied and computational mathematics. The mathematics discipline at QUT is ranked 3rd in Australia (ScholarGPS Lifetime ranking). There are currently 26 full-time academic staff members employed in the School, including ten Professors and five Associate Professors. The school also employs over 25 research only academic staff in full time and part time positions. Over the past five years staff of the school have held ten prestigious Australian Research Council fellowships including eight ARC Discovery Early Career fellowships and two Future fellowships. The Australian Research Council Centre of Excellence for the Mathematical Analysis of Cellular Systems (MACSYS); the world's largest focused research initiative in mathematical biology. MACSYS brings together mathematical, computational, and biological scientists to generate the mathematics and computational technologies required to make biology predictive. MACSYS generates the mathematics and computational technologies required to make biology predictive; establish mathematical whole cell models for in silica biology as a powerful complement to traditional in vivo and in vitro approaches; tackle fundamental biological problems; and establish a world-leading research and biotechnology translation environment.
What you need to succeed
- Completion of a doctoral qualification in applied mathematics or equivalent discipline.
- Experience with biological data analysis and interpretation in terms of mathematical modelling.
- Strong programming skills, preferably in languages (e.g. Python, MATLAB, or Julia).
- Demonstrated academic research experience evidenced by publications in high quality research journals.
- Demonstrated high level written and oral communication skills, including presenting findings to academically diverse audiences.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills including the ability to collaborate with colleagues in a team environment, internal and external stakeholders, and the wider research community.
- Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity and Indigenous Australian engagement.
