Postdoctoral Research Fellow (Health, Society, Technology)
The Tampere Institute for Advanced Study now calls for applications for nine (9) Postdoctoral Research Fellow positions. The positions will be filled full-time for a fixed-term period of two (2) years, starting on 1 September 2026 and ending on 31 August 2028.

The positions are based in Tampere where the appointed Fellows are expected to be primarily physically present.
Eligibility and evaluation of applicants
To be eligible to apply for these Postdoctoral Research Fellowships, your doctoral degree certificate must be dated between 2 March 2021 and 2 March 2026 (certificates dated on 2 March 2021 and 2 March 2026 are eligible). Orientation towards intensive international research collaboration is appreciated but is not a necessary precondition for applying.
Applications for these Postdoctoral Research Fellowships will be evaluated based on the scientific quality and the ambition of the proposed work plans as presented in the application materials. Work plans will be assessed against the following key evaluation criteria:
- High scientific quality and innovativeness
- Feasibility
Academic achievement will be taken into account, assessed in relation to the length of the applicant’s past research career. We expect demonstrated ability to conduct independent research.
Please note that the appointed Fellows may be expected to give postgraduate education of their field (up to 5% of total working hours).
Shortlisted applications will be sent to external evaluators for review. Please note that interviews will not be conducted.

Salaries are based on job demands and employees' personal performance in accordance with the Finnish University Salary System. According to the criteria applied to teaching and research staff, the position of Postdoctoral Research Fellow is placed on level 5-6 of the job requirements scale. A typical starting salary for Postdoctoral Research Fellows at the Tampere Institute for Advanced Study is between €4100–4300 per month. Salaries can be negotiated after a period of six months from the beginning of employment within the salary system. A trial period applies to all our new employees.
Tampere University will cover each Fellow's reasonable research-related costs, such as travel, publishing, and infrastructure operating costs.
