Postdoctoral Researcher, Egan Lab
Merrimack College is a selective, private college in a beautiful, residential setting — just minutes from Boston, Massachusetts.
Position Overview
The Egan Lab at Merrimack College is seeking a postdoctoral researcher to join a growing, externally funded research program in fungal cell biology. The lab studies proteostasis, cytoskeleton regulation, and microtubule-based transport in highly polarized cells using plant and human pathogenic fungi.
The research team uses a combination of molecular genetics and fluorescence-based live-cell imaging to understand how subcellular organization supports polarized growth, stress recovery, and infection-related development. We are particularly interested in candidates with experience in quantitative proteomics, biochemistry, and/or bioinformatics, as well as those with a strong interest in live-cell imaging and quantitative cell biology.
The successful candidate will develop independent, hypothesis-driven research while contributing to ongoing projects in the lab. The position includes mentoring undergraduate and graduate researchers, active participation in a collaborative research environment, and a limited teaching component (typically one course per year), offering the opportunity to gain teaching experience while maintaining a strong focus on research. The lab actively supports postdoctoral fellowship applications and provides mentorship in grant writing and career development.
Annual base salary is $64,000, contingent upon experience. This calendar year (12-months) role is fully benefits-eligible.
Merrimack College provides support for a limited range of work visas.
