The Institute of Physics Belgrade (IPB), a leading research institution in Serbia, invites applications for postdoctoral position in Structural Analysis and Quantum Materials. Position Details

Number of Positions: 1
Duration: Fixed-term contract (1+1 years, renewable based on performance; possible extension subject to funding availability)
Start Date: October 15, 2026 (earliest-; flexible extension possible)

Key Responsibilities

Conduct advanced research in the structural analysis of quantum materials.
Utilize experimental and computational techniques to investigate material properties.
Design and perform experiments, analyze data, and develop theoretical models, with an emphasis on total X-ray/neutron scattering-based pair distribution function analysis.
Collaborate with research teams within IPB and international partners.
Publish findings in high-impact scientific journals and present at international conferences.

Required Qualifications & Skills

A PhD in solid state physics/chemistry, materials science/engineering, or a related field.
Demonstrated experience in structural analysis of materials vis-à-vis their properties and quantum materials research.
Proficiency in data analysis and modeling tools relevant to structural analysis.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
Ability to work both independently and within a collaborative research environment.

Desirable Qualifications

Expertise in low-temperature physics and quantum materials characterization.
Strong background in experimental techniques, including STM, AFM, or other surface characterization methods is an advantage.
Experience in utilization of Large-Scale User Facilities research at synchrotrons or neutron spallation sources provides competitive advantage
Strong programming skills (Python, MATLAB, or similar) for data processing and simulations are preferred.
A track record of publications in high-impact journals in condensed matter physics.
