Postdoctoral Researcher - Neural Cell Biology and Computational Imaging
The Neural Cell Biology and Computational Imaging Lab at Florida Institute of Technology is seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to join our interdisciplinary team investigating neural cell biology using advanced microscopy and computational analysis. The successful candidate will develop, execute, and analyze experiments on neural cell cultures, integrating imaging, biochemical assays, and data-driven approaches to understand redox cellular mechanisms. Project is initially for 1-year with up to 3-years total.
Key Responsibilities:
- Culture and maintain primary and/or stem cell–derived neural cells under sterile conditions.
- Perform cellular assays, including viability, signaling, and functional readouts.
- Acquire and analyze microscopy data (fluorescence, confocal, live-cell imaging).
- Develop and implement data management pipelines for large imaging datasets.
- Apply Python or Matlab programming for data analysis, image processing, and automation.
- Explore AI/ML approaches to extract quantitative insights from imaging data.
- Collaborate with team members to design experiments, interpret results, and prepare manuscripts and presentations.
- Some travel will required.
Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in Neuroscience, Cell Biology, Biophysics, Bioengineering, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or related field.
- Hands-on experience with neural cell culture and relevant assays.
- Strong microscopy skills (fluorescence, confocal, live-cell imaging).
- Proficiency in coding for data analysis and scripting.
- Familiarity with AI/ML applications in image analysis is highly desirable.
- Strong organizational, communication, and teamwork skills.
