Job Summary

The position involves working on a multidisciplinary project to optimize the expansion and differentiation of iPSC-derived hematopoietic stem and progenitor cells into mature red blood cells using dynamic culture systems. The project includes generating metabolic and transcriptomic maps, improving yield and quality through tailored culture media, and evaluating scalability. Functional characterization of iRBCs will be performed using molecular assays, transcriptomics, proteomics, metabolomics, and lipidomics to assess biological and functional equivalence for potential clinical applications.

Responsibilities

Focus on bioinformatics analysis of omics data, integrating metabolomic, transcriptomic, proteomic, and lipidomic datasets. Conduct validation studies in iPSC-derived cultures, including minimal handling and maintenance of iPSC-derived hematopoietic organoids and erythroid cultures. Collaborate with the iPSC facility team, a dedicated research technician, PhD students, researchers, and engineers from TU-Delft on bioreactor setups.

Qualifications and Requirements

PhD in Bioinformatics, Cell Biology, Systems Biology, or related fields. Expertise in omics data analysis, including multi-omics data integration, with at least two years of hands-on experience. Experience with mammalian cell culture; iPSC culture and differentiation techniques are a selective advantage. Must be independent, responsible, with strong teamwork skills, and excellent communication and writing skills in English.

Salary in accordance with the Sanquin Collective Labor Agreement, including an 8.33% end-of-year bonus and 8.33% holiday allowance. Challenging research in a multidisciplinary international team. Temporary position for 2 years. 201 hours of leave per year for full-time employment (36 hours/week), commuting allowance, collective agreements with insurance providers, flexible benefits system, and pension accrual with Pensioenfonds Zorg en Welzijn where Sanquin contributes 65%.
