POSTDOCTORAL SCHOLAR POSITION - QAVI LAB
The Qavi Laboratory at UCI is seeking applications for Postdoctoral Scholars from doctoral (PhD, MD, or foreign equivalent) candidates with strong laboratory research backgrounds and specialized training. The lab is interested in developing the next generation of diagnostics for various pathogens and diseases. Relevant skills include experience with lasers, LEDs, optical system hardware, clean room fabrication, electronic circuit design, optical engineering, signal processing, and data analysis. The successful candidate will have a strong background in optics and device fabrication. Preference is given to those with high productivity during doctoral studies, including first-author publications in well-respected journals. The candidate should demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills, strong collaborative and interpersonal skills, strong analytical and organizational skills, ability to work independently and in a multidisciplinary team, and commitment to mentoring.
Initial appointments are for a minimum of two years, with renewal based on performance and available support. Substantive inquiries should be directed to Abraham Qavi, Assistant Professor in Residence of Pathology and Director of Innovative Laboratory Diagnostics at UC Irvine.
Basic qualifications: Doctoral degree (PhD, MD, or foreign equivalent) candidates, who either currently possess the degree or are working towards it.
