Job Summary:
This position provides quality teaching by collaborating with Toddler/Preschool Teachers, primary caregivers, families and The Center Director to meet children's needs in care. Plans and executes developmentally appropriate activities for primary children based on their needs and interests on a weekly basis. Keeps anecdotal records on each child and provide periodic developmental summaries. Mentors Assistant Toddler/Preschool Teachers in The Center and models quality care giving practices for students in the ECE program. Supports family interactions by holding at least two parent teacher conferences a year with each family, conveying written information about each child's interests and needs at least once a week. Interacts with other staff members to coordinate resources.
Required Qualifications
- Certified as Child Development Associate (CDA) or 12 semester hours of college credits in Early Childhood, which includes Intro to ECE or Guidance Strategies and at least 1,395 hours verified experience caring for 4 or more children under age 6, not related to individual.
Preferred Qualifications
- 2-year college degree in ECE which includes either Intro to ECE or Guidance Strategies.
Physical & Cognitive Demands
The following are some of the physical and cognitive demands commonly associated with this position.
- Requires bending, vision, hearing, lifting, repetitious movement, and standing requirements.
- Occasionally moves, positions, and transports files and office materials weighing up to 10 lbs.
- This is largely a sedentary role. This position operates in an office environment and constantly uses a computer, and routinely uses standard office equipment including phones, copiers, etc.
- The person in this position constantly communicates with internal and external constituents and students. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
- Cognitive demands include comparing, copying, computing, compiling, analyzing, coordinating, synthesizing, negotiating, communicating, instructing, and interpersonal skills.
Starting Salary
Starting salary range for this position is $44,291 - $48,720 annually, commensurate with education and experience. This is a full-time, FLSA non-exempt position. This position has been exempted from the State Classified System.
