Principal and Vice-Chancellor
Renowned for excellence in teaching, particularly for our wide range of professional programmes, the University of Dundee also has an enviable global reputation for the quality and impact of our research. We play a key role in the academic, civic, cultural and economic life of the city and region and are very proud of our position not just as a key player but as part of the physical and social fabric of Dundee.

Our next Principal will combine strategic clarity with the ability to deliver, setting a clear and credible direction for the future, building and sustaining trust and a culture of collegiality across a talented and committed community, and ensuring long-term financial sustainability. They will deepen the University’s role as a civic anchor and globally connected institution and one that transforms lives through education, research and innovation.
The successful candidate will embody integrity, visibility and consistency alongside the broader leadership qualities expected of a Principal: clear strategic vision, inclusive and caring leadership, and significant experience of senior leadership in a complex organisation, grounded in the values of respect, collaboration, excellence and positive impact.
